Prehnite is a beautiful and translucent gemstone belonging to the phyllosilicate mineral group, composed primarily of calcium and aluminum. It is known for its soft, soothing hues that range from pale green to yellow-green, though it can sometimes appear in shades of white, gray, or even colorless. Its gentle luster and serene appearance make it a favorite among gemstone enthusiasts.

Prehnite often forms in botryoidal (grape-like) or stalactitic shapes, as well as in masses or tabular crystals. It has a vitreous to pearly luster and is usually semi-transparent to translucent. The most prized specimens are those with a bright, vivid green color and good translucency.

This gemstone was first discovered in the late 18th century in South Africa and is named after Colonel Hendrik von Prehn, who is credited with its discovery. Today, prehnite is found in various parts of the world, including Australia, China, the United States, and India.
